Scope
This policy applies to tidestime.com and its language-specific pages. It does not apply to third-party sites that may be reached through external links.
Information we process
TidesTime does not require an account. When you visit the site, our hosting infrastructure may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested URL, referring page, time of request, and limited diagnostic data.
If you search for a station or enter coordinates, the query is sent to our service so that the requested page can be generated. Coordinates entered for point predictions are used to calculate and display the result and are not used to create a user profile.
On production pages where analytics is enabled, Google Analytics 4 may process usage information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from an IP address, browser and device details, referral source, and interaction events. Google may set analytics cookies or similar identifiers. We use this information to understand aggregate traffic and improve the service, not to sell personal data or build advertising profiles.
Currently, we do not sell personal information, run advertising profiles, or operate account, payment, or newsletter systems on this website.
Language preference
The site may store a small language-preference cookie so that your selected interface language remains consistent. It does not automatically choose a language from your browser settings. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time.
How information is used
- To deliver requested pages, tide predictions, maps, weather, and related features.
- To maintain service reliability, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and protect the website.
- To understand aggregate usage needs and improve content and performance without creating advertising profiles.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations and respond to legitimate requests.
Third-party services
Map tiles are loaded from Esri, which may receive your IP address and technical request information when tiles are displayed. Weather data is requested from Open-Meteo through our backend and may include the coordinates needed for the forecast.
Google Analytics is provided by Google. When analytics is enabled, usage data is sent to Google and processed under Google's own privacy terms. You can limit analytics through browser settings, content blockers, Google's opt-out tools, or applicable consent controls.
These providers process data under their own policies. TidesTime does not control their independent privacy practices.
Retention and security
Server logs and technical records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for operation, security, troubleshooting, and legal compliance. Retention periods can vary with the type of record and hosting configuration.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the service, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection regarding personal information. You may also contact a local data-protection authority where applicable.
Requests can be sent to contact@tidestime.com. We may need enough information to identify the relevant record and verify the request, while avoiding unnecessary collection of additional personal data.
Children
The service is intended for a general audience and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so that the matter can be reviewed.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service, providers, or legal requirements. A revised version will be posted on this page with a new update date.
